In Brittany's network of long-distance cycle routes, the V4 is the waymarked route on minor roads (and occasional greenways) that follows the north coast of Brittany from Roscoff to the Bay of Mont St-Michel. It is also part of the longer and widely promoted Tour de Manche, a circuit that includes southern England and part of Normandy.
This guide book maps the route of the V4, showing how the V4 integrates with the road system. There are suggested detours and the liaisons with other waymarked routes and circuits are shown. It also shows where to look for refreshments and provisions, and marks car parks and camper-van parks for the benefit of holidaymakers with bikes. Information on places of interest is included and accommodation is listed and cross-referenced with the maps.
The V4 is a great way to explore some magnificent coastal scenery but it is not a Green Way. Most of it follows quiet minor roads, with only occasional short stretches of greenway. Gradients are more noticeable than on most of the almost-level Green Way routes.
